چکیده
The present study investigates aerosols distributions and a strong Sahara dust-storm event that occurred by early August 2018, in the South of Morocco. We used columnar aerosol optical depth (AOD), Angstrom Exponent (AE) volume size (VSD) as derived from ground-based observations 2 AERONET (AErosol RObotic NETwork) sun-photometers at Saada (31.63°N, 8.16°W) Ouarzazate (30.93°N, 6.91°W) sites, over periods 2004–2019 2012–2015, respectively. monthly seasonal AOD, AE, VSD showed trend dominated annual cycle, with maximum load during summer (July–August) minimum winter (December–January), characterized coarse mode near radius 2.59 ?m fine 0.16 ?m, Indeed, this populations southern Morocco are Saharan desert dust, especially season. latter can sometimes be subject events. case presented paper reports on one these events, which happened 2018. HYSPLIT (HYbrid Single Particle Lagrangian Integrated Trajectory) model was to simulate air-mass back-trajectories event. In agreement (AERONET sun-photometers) satellite (CALIOP, MODIS AIRS) observations, dust 4-km layer, average height plume, has crossed site, westward direction towards Atlantic Ocean, before it changed northward up Portuguese coasts.

Global anthropogenic aerosol direct forcing derived from satellite and ground-based observations
[1] A global estimate of the direct effects of anthropogenic aerosols on solar radiation in cloudy skies is obtained by integrating satellite and ground-based observations with models of aerosol chemistry, transport, and radiative transfer. The models adopt global distribution of aerosol optical depths (from MODIS), clouds, water vapor, ozone, and surface albedo from various satellite climatolo...

A severe haze episode that occurred in Wuhan, central China, from 6–14 June 2012 was investigated using ground-based and satellite-derived observations, from which the optical properties and vertical distribution of the aerosols were obtained. The mass concentrations of PM2.5 and black carbon (BC) were 9.9 (332.79 versus 33.66 μg·m) and 3.2 times (9.67 versus 2.99 μg·m) greater, respectively, o...
متن کاملDust aerosol emission over the Sahara during summertime from Cloud-Aerosol Lidar with Orthogonal Polarization (CALIOP) observations
Dust aerosols are an important component of the climate system and a challenge to incorporate into weather and climate models. Information on the location and magnitude of dust emission remains a key information gap to inform model development. Inadequate surface observations ensure that satellite data remain the primary source of this information over extensive and remote desert regions. Here,...

The TwO-Moment Aerosol Sectional (TOMAS) microphysics model has been integrated into the state-ofthe-art general circulation model, GISS ModelE2. This paper provides a detailed description of the ModelE2-TOMAS model and evaluates the model against various observations including aerosol precursor gas concentrations, aerosol mass and number concentrations, and aerosol optical depths. Additionally...
متن کاملAerosol Optical Depth Prediction from Satellite Observations
Aerosols are small airborne particles that both reflect and absorb incoming solar radiation and whose effect on the Earth’s radiation budget is one of the biggest challenges of current climate research. To help address this challenge, numerous satellite sensors are employed to achieve globalscale monitoring of aerosols. Given the satellite measurements, the common objective is prediction of Aer...
